It's getting down to business - it's getting serious
German Version further down….
Buongiorno from Italy!
For a week I have been continuing my education in Procreate, a digital drawing program. I've been doing it for a few years, but now it's getting serious. I've done a lot of research and unfortunately I can't avoid using digital technology if I want to create my picture book. So I'm practicing hard and have already learned a thing or two. But above all, in the digital drawing world you think and work in layers. So it's relatively technical. It's different with analogue painting, at least with watercolor painting, in that I start with the background and slowly work my way forward layer by layer. With digital technology it is exactly the other way around. And then it is also important when creating the image to create so-called thumbnails (classic translation: thumbnail, modern nowadays preliminary drawing/sketch). Then again a final drawing and then the coloring and the detailed work. Everything in one project. That's really different work. Exciting and really gets my brain cells going. I just read an interesting article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung (I love it and now only read it digitally) that it is important to keep learning new things. Good for dementia later in old age, for example. But for me it's important to always learn something new. It keeps me fit and makes my life more interesting. I already know how to write a book and publish it myself. That was also a very exciting process. But now I would like to create a special story as a picture book. The question is, should it just be a children's book, which is what I always thought, or perhaps more for adults?
A few days ago I was in Milan and was browsing in the children's book section of a large Italian bookstore and was very shocked to find that today's children's books look so completely different than my son's, for example. Well, he's already 28 years old and a lot has changed. Man, or rather I don't want to believe it, but that's just how it is. All the figures have huge eyes and don't look particularly realistic. So I really have to rethink everything. And here you can see the first of my attempts. More soon. I'm sticking with it and I'm excited to see what happens next.
Send with love

Es geht ans „Eingemachte“ - Es wird ernst
Buongiorno from Italy!
Also relativ technisch.
So muss ich also echt umdenken in jeder Hinsicht.
Herzlichst
Sabine
